Then things should work. Are you sure that the symbol you tried actually has
charts? Ie finance.yahoo.com shows one? Do you get the error with, say,
$ smtm IBM
and selecting a chart? Anything else that would help me -- graph parameters?

No, that looked like simple a bug in the transition from a standalone
libtk-png-perl package providing the file /usr/lib/perl5/Tk/PNG.pm and then
the newer perl-tk providing it too and trampling on the library.
