I was using an up-to date stable system. GTK1.2 version is/was 1.2.10,
GTK2.0 version is/was 2.4.14 Xfree86 was 4.1 now it's Xfree86 4.3

What I did, is

-Installed pure STABLE system.
-upgraded to stable/testing.
-Installed gtk2.0 and the libraries needed
-Installed some program which uses the gtk2.0 libraries. It's identical
which, since all produced the same error message, even which I've tried
locally compile.

Problem was that the Xfree86 (server and the base) package did not got
upgraded. That's all. You shold figure out which package needs the new,
X version 4.3.
