GCC 4.1.2 was the *only* and and the *last* time that such an incompatibility
existed.  It's the only upstream rationale, and it's bogus now for more than ten
years. Please just remove it.  If upstream won't do it, you can do it in the
distro, that's what are patches for.  Or are you biased by upstream too?
