Package: armagetronad Version: 0.2.8.3.4-2 Severity: normal Hello!
I've just installed armagetronad: thanks for maintaining it in Debian! I am experiencing a weird behavior, though. The first time I started the game from an xterm, I obtained the following output: A$ armagetronad Trying to start sound. Just restart Armagetron Advanced in case of crash. and then nothing happened for a long time. The process armagetronad.real was running, but nothing was apparently happening. Hitting [Ctrl+C] was useless. Until I decided to kill the process from another xterm: B$ killall -KILL armagetronad.real Of course, the effect on the first xterm was: ^C^C^C^CKilled At the second try, I obtained the same output: A$ armagetronad Trying to start sound. Just restart Armagetron Advanced in case of crash. but, this time, the game started and was playable (and enjoyable!). The weird behavior is that, after playing for a while, I selected "Exit game" and I was brought back to my desktop session, as expected, but the process did not actually exit and I failed to get my prompt back on the xterm. Until I had to kill the process from another xterm: B$ killall -KILL armagetronad.real Once again, the effect on the first xterm was: Killed On the third try, I got no output regarding sound, but I again had to kill the process, after exiting from the game: A$ armagetronad Killed On the fourth and fifth tries, the game again failed to start: A$ armagetronad ^CKilled On the sixth try, the game started and exited without issues: A$ armagetronad A$ On the seventh and eighth tries, the game again failed to start: A$ armagetronad ^CKilled On the ninth try, the game again failed to quit, but this time I could kill it with [Ctrl+C]: A$ armagetronad ^C And so forth... Please investigate the issues and fix this bug.
