Package: spidermonkey-bin Version: 1.8.0.1-5 When I test spidermonkey-bin with piuparts, I get the following error:
1m59.9s ERROR: Package purging left files on system: /etc/alternatives/js /etc/alternatives/js.1.gz /usr/bin/js /usr/share/man/man1/js.1.gz This happens when testing upgrades from sarge to etch to sid, then removing and purging the package. My speculation: spidermonkey-bin in sarge is from source package spidermonkey, and that one creates the alternatives. spidermonkey-bin in sid is from source package xulrunner, and that one does nothing with alternatives. Thus, when package gets upgraded and then purged, the alternatives remain. If I am guessing correctly, the fix would be for xulrunner to add a maintainer script to do something intelligent with the alternatives. I do not know whether that means removing them on upgrade, or what, though. -- Päivät on kuin piikkilankaa, ne murjoo mua.
