After * sudo apt-get remove r-cran-rmarkdown * sudo rm /usr/lib/R/site-library/rmarkdown/rmd/h/bootstrap-3.3.5 * sudo apt-get install r-cran-rmarkdown The issue is solved for me. I did the second step because the first step gave me some warnings: Removing r-cran-rmarkdown (1.10+dfsg-2) ... dpkg: warning: while removing r-cran-rmarkdown, directory '/usr/lib/R/site-library/rmarkdown/rmd/h/bootstrap-3.3.5/js' not empty so not removed dpkg: warning: while removing r-cran-rmarkdown, directory '/usr/lib/R/site-library/rmarkdown/rmd/h/bootstrap-3.3.5/fonts' not empty so not removed dpkg: warning: while removing r-cran-rmarkdown, directory '/usr/lib/R/site-library/rmarkdown/rmd/h/bootstrap-3.3.5/css' not empty so not removed I am not sure if you want to keep the ticket open, so I leave that decision to you. Thanks Ralf
