Would the following be a viable alternative?: https://github.com/monsanto/readline-complete.el If so, goodies can not only drop shell-command.el, but also Recommend readline-complete. This would also add a third state to addons mentioned in NEWS. [E]lpafied, [D]ropped, and maybe something like [T]ransitioned? The idea being that goodies continues to provide the expected functionality, even if it is necessary to transition users to better maintained alternatives. Cheers, Nicholas
