I seem to have confused myself. I have new 2.5-2 packages which should carry the deprecated symbols, brought back for our use in the eg the Perl GSL package. I should remember to do that with the next few releases over the next years. I will follow upstream's lead about when to change SONAMES. We do not need it now.
