As you know upstream authors often complain they receive bug reports for old versions, so "out of date" reminds me of this situations. I totally understand your wish to avoid wasting time, but I think rephrasing to make your intent clear would be better. Also I would not talk about versions which are not in stable or stable-security (in this case "out of date" would be appropriate), but filtering might be tricky.
Anyway, I'm a DD and I know how it works. I thought it might be misleading for our users so I opened this report but if you disagree then it's fine and you can close it.
