*With* or *in* a worktree ?  Anyway, I will try it and report back.

My comment in this bug report was a result of me stumbling across it
while looking for something else, and making what I had hoped would be
a helpful intervention.

dgit used to expect .git to be a directory and I had to do some work
to make it work with worktrees.[1]
