Thanks for the CC_FOR_BUILD patch; sorry about that, I should have known better, I should have fixed it when taking over the package. About the installation with -s: this is actually already fixed in my VCS by updating hexer to compatibility level 11; the package has not yet hit the archive, since I was holding off on requesting sponsorship since, well, there didn't seem to be any really important changes. However, it seems that the bump to 11 did indeed have an important consequence: actually building a -dbgsym package... thanks for bringing this to my attention!
