Package: apt Version: 1.6~beta1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
today I stumbled over the manual of apt (yes, there are still people, who read manuals). I wondered, why apt is calling apt-get for upgrades and full-upgrades. Some time ago, I was told, that aptitude is now the preferred updating and upgrading tool before apt-get, as it has some more capability and options than apt-get. And now, in apt, apt-get is called, when upgrading. Well, IMO, apt should call aptitude (in the commandline), instead of apt-get. Calling apt-get is (according to prior sayings) a big step backward. So, maybe this should be really discussed, I think. However, when there are reaonable grounds, to use apt-get instead of apt, please let me know and enlighten me.
