This is due to an unintentional use of a scalar reference ($$ rather
than $). I've fixed it in CVS; you can download a fixed copy from
http://cvs.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/sbuild/sbuild?rev=1.75&content-type=text/x-cvsweb-markup&cvsroot=buildd-tools
(using the "download" link).
Please could you confirm this fixes it for you?
