Subversion must use the same Berkeley DB version as libaprutil (the Apache Portable Runtime utility library from the Apache Group). Currently we link to libapr0, but soon we will switch to libapr1 and libaprutil1. So I'm reassigning this bug to them. I agree, btw, that we want to switch to db4.4 sooner rather than later. Some enhancements will be coming to subversion 1.3.1 or 1.3.2 which will make use of db4.4 features to prevent "wedging" repositories (a huge complaint in the past, inside and outside Debian).
