The poppler gobject python bindings are unmaintained and obsoleted in favor of the gobject introspection bindings, i.e. gir1.2-poppler-0.18. python-poppler has only two reverse dependencies in Debian: gourmet and pdfshuffler. https://bugs.debian.org/879034 https://bugs.debian.org/879035 This is related to a wider effort to finally remove old GNOME2 modules from Debian.
