I experienced the problem reported here against a 2.6.14-rc4 kernel,
with "yaird error: bad value in /boot/config-2.6.16".

As Jurij said, applying his patch makes that error message go away.

Moreover once I've done that, I do not get the block error that Jurij
got.  yaird appears to have finished its job correctly. I've got yaird
0.0.12-3, same as Jurij.

I guess this bug can be closed when the patch is applied. Perhaps Jurij
can make a separate bug report about the block problem, if it persists.
