Hi Ben, upstream has landed a solution for this issue in 4.13 which doesn't require blacklisting radeon anymore [1]. Please consider setting CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_SI=Y and CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_CIK=Y to allow the optional usage of amdgpu on GCN1.0 and GCN1.1 based cards [2].
