If cherry-picking the fixes, or packaging the new upstream release isn’t feasible, I think we could fix this issue the same way that https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=871062 fixes it. This is somewhat time-critical, because this RC bug will cause freeradius to be removed from testing.
