Package: vim Version: 2:8.0.0946-1 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Normally the cursor in my terminal (urxvt) does not blink. With older versions of vim, running:
vim -u NONE -U NONE -N does not change that. Since upgrading to 8.0.0946, running the same command causes the cursor in vim to start blinking, and it continues blinking after exiting vim. I can reproduce the problem by building upstream vim. The problem bisects to 3cd43cccc (patch 8.0.0918: cannot get terminal window cursor shape or attributes, 2017-08-12). I see that commit added more support for setting the cursor-start-color, but I don't see any indication that it should change the default to blink. -- Package-specific info: --- real paths of main Vim binaries --- /usr/bin/vi is /usr/bin/vim.basic /usr/bin/vim is /usr/bin/vim.basic -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.12.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) Versions of packages vim depends on: ii libacl1 2.2.52-3+b1 ii libc6 2.24-14 ii libgpm2 1.20.4-6.2+b1 ii libselinux1 2.6-3+b2 ii libtinfo5 6.0+20170715-2 ii vim-common 2:8.0.0946-1 ii vim-runtime 2:8.0.0946-1 vim recommends no packages.
