Package: snapd Version: 2.21-2+b1 Severity: important On a Debian testing/unstable box, installing snaps results in a hang. The hang occurs when trying to install the core snap.
Further, manually installing the core snap results in more errors. A quick search on the internet pointed to snap user forums, where this issue is known and claims to be fixed in newer versions of snapd. https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/debian-core-configure-hang-on-first-snap-install/1586/5 rrs@priyasi:~$ sudo snap install emoj [sudo] password for rrs: 2017-08-13T20:05:28+05:30 INFO snap "core" has bad plugs or slots: core-support-plug (unknown interface) error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Run configure hook of "core" snap if present (run hook "configure": <hook aborted>) 20:09 ♒♒♒ ☹ => 1 rrs@priyasi:~$ sudo snap install core error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Setup snap "core" (2462) security profiles (cannot setup seccomp for snap "core": fork/exec /usr/lib/snapd/snap-seccomp: no such file or directory) - Setup snap "core" (2462) security profiles (fork/exec /usr/lib/snapd/snap-seccomp: no such file or directory) 20:17 ♒♒♒ ☹ => 1 -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (900, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (100, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.12.5+ (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_IN:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages snapd depends on: ii adduser 3.115 ii apparmor 2.11.0-6+b2 ii ca-certificates 20161130+nmu1 ii gnupg 2.1.18-8 ii init-system-helpers 1.49 ii libc6 2.24-12 ii snap-confine 2.21-2+b1 ii squashfs-tools 1:4.3-4 ii systemd 234-2 ii ubuntu-core-launcher 2.21-2+b1 snapd recommends no packages. snapd suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
