Package: screen
Version: 4.5.1-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I've been having issues with screen since the day I upgraded my OS to Debian
9.0 with the testing
distribution. I can use it with the root account, but when entering "screen" in
the console while being
logged in as an ordinary user, screen returns immediately. The $? variable
invariably contains 0, and no
errors are reported on console.
We already discussed this problem briefly through e-mail, and I noted I had
opened a thread on SuperUser
(https://superuser.com/q/1223015/539790) several weeks ago.
I have trobleshooted a little using strace and gdb, and will perhaps paste
their logs in the follow up
replies to this message.
