Could you also try to run from a terminal:
G_FILENAME_ENCODING=ISO-8859-15 gedit
and:
G_FILENAME_ENCODING=ISO-8859-15 gedit
from gedit, type ^O and browse to a directory with your files: in which
case do you see the correct names? Do you see the correct names when
you launch "gedit" from your terminal without any G_FILENAME_ENCODING?
