Hmm, I did a couple of apt-get install -f before posting the bug-report. It failed everytime. When I moved pdflatex.fmt from /var/lib/texmf/web2c to /root the texlive-base-bin configuration picked up that file according to the log in /tmp. I had to rename it, then it broke on pdfjadetex.fmt which I also moved and renamed and after that it worked. Thus I can't run dpkg --configure -a now, but as the files in /var/lib/texmf/web2c are recreated I guess a reconfigure of jadetex or the reinstall of that package would have solved the issue without moving the files. I'll need the tex-system this week and thus I'm not able to do removal/install runs to test if I can reproduce this, but I will do that as soon as I'm not under such pressure anymore. Andreas -- Good news. Ten weeks from Friday will be a pretty good day.
