Hello,

sorry to re-open this bug, but I didn't notice it until the upgrade
this morning. Cc:ing all the interested people, to be sure they are
aware of my post.

This was known since last March 2005, as I posted a patch on the PWC
mailing-list [1], which was rejected by the PWC author (I don't want
to discuss his reasons, I'm fine with that).

I don't see the point of a symlink instead of _directly_ install the
modules in $(KVERS)/updates. As already posted, this is the correct
folder to override kernel modules and this is a solution came from RH,
not directly Debian:
=====
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ zgrep updates \
 /usr/share/doc/module-init-tools/changelog.gz

o depmod: updates/ dir overrides (for RH, thanks to Thomas Vander \
 Stichele)

o depmod: don't follow symlinks, broken in updates/ rework (thanks \
 to Marco d'Itri)

o modinfo: use modules.dep, not manual search, so we get updates/ \
 right.

=====

So, what's the rationale to keep $(KVERS)/misc?

Thx, bye,
Gismo / Luca
