Thanks for the report. There is definitely a package relation to net-tools missing. Hence setting the severity to "serious". The only thing I'm currently undecided about is the type of relation xymon-client should have to net-tools: A hard "Depends" or a softer "Recommends". The latter would pull in net-tools by default (unless you set 'APT::Install-Recommends="false"' of course), but the admin might decide to uninstall it again. Reason for this is that /usr/lib/xymon/client/bin/xymonclient-linux.sh uses those tools in a way that it only fails gracefully by just not reporting the information it would gather by using them. But does not fail to work at all. Then again, it also does not report this as an issue. The issue only shows up by not reporting these details.
