Package: eog Version: 3.20.5-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
EOG takes up a lot of memory when opening single files. A 5MB jpeg could take up 400MB of memory when opening. A 15MB jpeg takes over 1.3GB memory to open (often spilling onto swap and bringing my laptop almosts to a hault). Opening large PNGs in EOG creates the same excesive memeory usage problem. I have tried opening these same pics in other software an non create any issues -- they all open fine in Firefox, Chromium, GIMP, sushi, and Gnome Photos without taking up excessive memory. This problem started recently, but I can't figure out what packages might have changed to create this problem. Let me know if there's other info I can get you.
