Thanks for the report, and sorry for the inconvenience. I started to depend on the behaviour of dh_makeshlibs from debhelper 9.20150501, but failed to update the dependency appropriately.
Please use debhelper from jessie-backports to build the package. I will fix the dependency in the next upload.
