Package: kernel-package
Version: 8.121
Severity: minor

Hi,

I was testing some kernel-headers packages today and so at first things
looked like this:

$ tree /lib/modules/2.4.27-2-sparc64
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-sparc64
`-- build -> /usr/src/kernel-headers-2.4.27-2-sparc64

I then decided to test the corresponding kernel image, so I did:

$ sudo dpkg -i kernel-image-2.4.27-2-sparc64_2.4.27-2_sparc.deb
(Reading database ... 41565 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking kernel-image-2.4.27-2-sparc64 (from
kernel-image-2.4.27-2-sparc64_2.4.27-2_sparc.deb) ...
You are attempting to install a kernel image (version 2.4.27-2-sparc64)
However, the directory /lib/modules/2.4.27-2-sparc64 still exists. If this
directory belongs to a previous kernel-image-2.4.27-2-sparc64 package, and if
you have deselected some modules, or installed standalone modules
[... etc ...]

IMHO it should not warn if only the build symlink is present, which is
standard for all subarch-specific kernel-headers packages.

Thanks
Josh
