Please consider demoting the Recommends on "default-jre | java5-runtime" to a Suggests. SSVNC is certainly useful without java; I'm not sure what functionality it adds. SSVNC is part of the VNC dependency chain used by epoptes, and other than the issue with recommends pulling in a large number of additional packages, would likely be the preferred VNC client. Suggests seems to fit better with the definitions from debian-policy: `Recommends' This declares a strong, but not absolute, dependency. The `Recommends' field should list packages that would be found together with this one in all but unusual installations. `Suggests' This is used to declare that one package may be more useful with one or more others. Using this field tells the packaging system and the user that the listed packages are related to this one and can perhaps enhance its usefulness, but that installing this one without them is perfectly reasonable. Maybe there is something I'm unaware of that makes running SSVNC without java unusual? Thanks for maintaining SSVNC! live well, vagrant
