So, all mail-related problems - are present, event-files - were created, but correctly removed? If this is correct, problem seems to be solved in the new version. If not - please try to reproduce situation, when event-files are created. BTW, I don't think, that monit should cleanup some "broken" (from his current point of view) files in events dir.
