I just tried it again on amd64 and it is still broken.

Yes, the changes are for general gcc-4.0 compatibility.

Since the package does not work on amd64, it will certainly be better 
not to add 'amd64' to the Architecture fields - at least not until the 
64bit problems have been fixed.
