Package: tin
Version: 1:2.4.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The patches you pulled from the unreleased version 2.4.1 are known to break
-A to force nntp authentication. A fix is available in
  http://lists.tin.org/pipermail/tin-dev/2016-December/000042.html

Not being able to use -A breaks using the popular news server
news.eternal-september.org, as this server allows posting to a limit set
of groups even without authentication, so tin sees no reason to
authenticate. Most users of eternal-september.org need full access to
that server and not just to the limited set of groups exposed without
authentication, so forced authentication is needed here.

Regards,
  Michael Karcher
