Yes, that's actually a "feature" :) I guess an immediate fix is to change the text to "Take me to a random subdirectory", and fix the documentation. There are reasons for it to work on subdirs (eg, you sort your music by "genre" or "artists" folders, and want to go to a random one within a given genre or artist). Your idea of a site wide random directory could be interesting, but probably non-trivial to implement (eg: how do you tell which directory in the current web path is the root directory handled by musicindex?).
