After upgrating to 1.90-1 the transparent background is not working. It only seems to work if I have several terminals opened and I click 'Close' button. While I'm seeing "Close multiple terminal sessions" question, the transparent background works. I even noticed that when I run /usr/bin/who I get the tty where my X session is running but not all the pts opened in Terminator.
