We were discussing this on IRC:
<suihkulokki> chazy: on debian/ubuntu UEFI for arm64 is included in
package qemu-efi
<chazy> suihkulokki: cool. who did this work?
<suihkulokki> chazy: the debian Qemu team :)
<chazy> suihkulokki: cool
<chazy> nice of them
<suihkulokki> it's the same way seabios (for x86) and openbios (for
sparc, ppc?) is done
<chazy> suihkulokki: yes, but people really care about their x86
hardware ;)
> suihkulokki: so the qemu-efi on my x86 box is the x86 efi build?
<suihkulokki> ajb-linaro: no. qemu-efi on your x86 is for aarch64. EFI
build for x86/qemu is in package ovmf
<suihkulokki> I think this is confusing for me. I can't bear how
confusing this is for people outside our field of expertise.
> suihkulokki: maybe changing the package description to be a bit more
explicit? If I run "file" on the blob I just get the magic "data"
type ;-)
So I learnt the package is what I need for running aarch64 guests on my
x86 box. Perhaps the description could be tweaked to make this clearer?
