been an error when extracting the stuff ... unfortunately it gets lost due to the progress reporting (the many dots printed) if I run (as user) true || { echo foo > /dev/missing ; } it does not fail (and with false it does) Did you repeat the test several times? Does it always fail? Since I have no clue what happened here and I don't know how to reproduce it, I'm downgrading the severity. Andreas
