Hi, PDiffs gives a much higher download saving for Contents files than Packages files. Furthermore with apt's recent improvements of PDiffs, the cost are also a lot smaller than they used to be. At this date, I suspect the vast majority will have faster downloads with Contents file using PDiffs rather than downloading the full Contents files each time. Your mileage is apparently different.
