Sorry, but i've no time to care about this. Since the bugs in question
don't render the functionality of the package unusable, i don't consider
this to be very urgent either. If anybody would like to, i wouldn't mind if
someone would take care of it in my place.
Maybe the debconf functionality should simply be removed again.
