Hello Michael, for libtasn1 the cause for the build-error is pkg-config. However I think that is a gtk-doc-tools needs to add a dep on pkg-config since GTK_DOC_CHECK requires it. So imho it is pretty much a hard dependency. Please note that for libtasn1-6 I am not relying on gtk-doc-tools to pull in pkg-config because libtasn1-6 requires it. The only thing pkg-config is used for is for GTK_DOC_CHECK. I have already submitted a report against gtk-doc-tools because I missed the explicit mention of pkg-config in your report.
