Dear maintainer: Would you please consider fixing this bug in jessie, for the next point release? (or the one after the next one).
The procedure would be more or less as follows: Prepare an upload and submit the diff in a bug against release.debian.org, asking for permission to upload for "stable". The Release Team would then tell you either yes or no. The shorter the patch, the more likely is that you would get an ok. If I'm not mistaken, this was fixed in unstable by adding a single line to debian/rules. If you need help, please say so, I would like to see this fixed in jessie. Thanks.
