I am not an expert on autopkgtest. This was implemented by Paul Gevers in commit https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mariadb-10.0.git/commit/?id=b9d1c10300db04f273a161cbea1838211f4dea9f and I fixed a few things after it, but I've never learnt any deeply how it works. Source of the package as uploaded into Debian is at https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-mysql/mariadb-10.0.git/ (mirror at https://github.com/ottok/mariadb-10.0 for easy pull requests if you are into those - sending patches by e-mail is also OK).
