Yes, I understand that. And also GTK IM mode has its own limitations. Sure, I agree this is a bug, and I treat bugs that only happen in XIM mode very seriously (as I said, I use XIM mode myself). But this is probably harder to fix than you thought, since XIM is known to have a lot of limitation and corner case bugs. We will see.
