NetworkManager 1.4 has some changes related to this: - Also works for Ethernet devices. - For wifi, no longer requires wpa-supplicant. - There is a new setting assigned-mac-address, with special values "random" and "stable". https://blogs.gnome.org/lkundrak/2016/08/24/networkmanager-1-4/
