Whilst working on #834804, I figured that the package would probably benefit from a move to debhelper and pybuild, which is what the Debian Python policy recommends anyway.
This would bring a much simplified d/rules, automatic population of Python 3 dependencies (via dh-python) and automatic javascript symlinks for the Sphinx documentation (via dh-sphinxdoc). Ghis
