This package was removed in Stretch/Jessie. So this should be discussed with
upstream. And I doubt that such a change can be backported to Jessie since it
is really invasive. I will close it therefore in Debian.
I have forwarded your bug report to upstream. Maybe you can discuss it
there [1].
