Package: desktop-base Version: 8.0.2 The emblem-debian icon appears to be a duplicate of debian-swirl provided by gnome-icon-theme (but I didn't examine the icons too closely). That's fine because gnome-icon-theme is no longer maintained upstream and was renamed to adwaita-icon-theme. The current adwaita-icon-theme packaging in Debian does not provide the debian-swirl logo.
gdm3 uses the Debian logo on the login screen. [1] If a computer doesn't have gnome-icon-theme installed (the default in current stretch I think), no logo is shown on the login screen. I'd like to use emblem-debian instead but emblem-debian isn't provided in a 48 pixel version in desktop-base. (I don't know if a 48-pixel logo is necessary but I thought it would be easiest for now to just keep doing what we've been doing.) debian-swirl is provided in 16x16, 22x22, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 256x256 and scalable versions. [2] emblem-debian is provided in 36x36, 64x64, 128x128 and scalable versions. I don't know how important the different sizes are, but I'd at least like 48x48 and probably 256x256 too.
