So there are two things that i think get created by
gobject-introspection:

 /usr/share/gir-1.0/GMime-2.6.gir

and

 /usr/lib/${ARCHITECTURE_TRIPLET}/girepository-1.0/GMime-2.6.typelib


I think the .gir file (an XML file) belongs pretty clearly in
libgmime-2.6-dev.  But all the other .typelib files on my system seem to
be shipped in their own gir1.2-* package, like:

 gir1.2-gcr-3

(and it looks like the associated *-dev package will Depend: on the
gir1.2-* package).

It'll need a round trip through the NEW queue because of the new
package, but that way people who want to use gir (e.g. on a multiarch
system) without choosing a full -dev package can use it cleanly.
