Dear Maintainer,

If a user does not have pristine-tar installed, and uses gnp import-orig, 
they get an unhelpful error:

gbp:error: Couldn't commit to 'pristine-tar' with upstream 'upstream-nightly': 
Execution failed: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

If pristine-tar is needed, it ought to be at least a Suggests: if not
