* I'm ok to keep this wishlist bug open, for reference. * I suggest that you do something similar to reproducible builds, i.e. create your own repository of modified packages as a "proof of concept". * I'd like to see some data about how debootstrap and related tools would be simplified by this. Sure, the one-liner which installs base-files and only base-files is certainly "cool", but normally we don't have the need to install a single package in a chroot because normally we use debootstrap first. * I'd like also to see some indication that the complexity added to the packages is smaller than the complexity that we could take out of debootstrap, because otherwise, IMHO, the whole idea would not make much sense.
