Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Looking for a terminal that correctly displays bidirectional texts I tried this
so-called
Multi-lingual Terminal. Unfortunately, the set of characters that can actually
be
displayed is much less multi-lingual than that displayed by, e.g., MATE
Terminal.

Once you have, after going through lots of tests, found a suitable font to use,
e.g.
FreeMono, Hebrew, and probably Arabic, text parts are displayed correctly, i.e.
right to
left, in an otherwise left-to-right text, but lots of other important
characters are
missing, for example:

- boxed Latin letters
- circled Latin letters like ⓤ 24e4
- ☠ 2620; ☪ 262a; ☭ 262d
- ⚡ 26a1
- 26aa to 26af: ⚪⚫⚬⚭⚮⚯
- ✄ 2704; ❇ 2747; ❤ 2764
- ✂ 2702; ✄ 2704; ✓ 2713; ✔ 2714
- characters needed for: Dhivehi, Nepali, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil,
Amharic,
  Inuktitut, Cree, Chinese, Japanese, Korean

All of these characters are displayed by MATE Terminal, but only left to right.

Here is my ~/.inputrc − setting it up this way has not changed anything:

set convert-meta off
set output-meta on
set input-meta on

My locale is identical to en_IE.UTF-8 except for the date and time formats.
